The dream of The New House Company

The New House Company was founded on the dream of one woman in Virginia. From Charlottesville -- the seat of Albemarle County and home of Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe -- a young Katie Corish recognized no business, no entrepreneur, no means for connecting a variety of real estate services in the area. This gap, she decided, needed to be filled. And so she founded The New House Company in 1981, aiming to connect homeowners, buyers, sellers, real estate investors, renters and lease seekers, with a business that can work among them to get the job accomplished and provide proper maintenance, care, paperwork and other services toward success. Her dream was realized and since then, individuals have trusted the business for a variety of needs. Additionally, buyers have returned to The New House Company to become home sellers, or tenant have purchased homes through the business, using the business repeatedly because of their previous positive results.

Corish led the business for more than two decades, including as she faced a stem cell transplant as she fought myleofibrosis. But in November 2015, Corish’s struggle came to an end. Her dream, however, continues under valued friends and cherished fellow leaders with whom she worked at The New House Company -- persons who carry her vision today.
